Bereavement

Barnet Bereavement Service

The Barnet Bereavement Service aims to offer counselling to bereaved people living in the Borough of Barnet. Referrals come from the bereaved themselves as well as from medical, social work and voluntary agencies.

Counselling is available on a one-to-one basis in your own home or at the Service office.

All volunteer counsellors are trained and professionally supervised in this work.

The Early Support Service offers short term counselling to people in the early stages of their bereavement. This takes place at our offices and is available by appointment.

The Service is committed to achieving good working practices and recognises that it has a duty to embrace equal opportunities principles in all our work and to promote this in the work of our volunteers, so that the service provided is freely available to all those affected by loss regardless of their age, gender, race, culture, religion, sexuality or disability. To that end we will identify and challenge discriminatory attitudes, remarks and behaviour. We are a multi-racial team of volunteers and staff.
